With Video Manager, you can make your films available in multiple languages. You may work with several different markets or have operations in several countries. In addition to subtitles, you can also upload alternative audio and video tracks in other languages and link them to your video. Once the tracks are activated, you can easily switch between them in the video player.
Subtitles in other languages
If you have subtitles in different languages, the viewer can choose between them by clicking on Settings in the video player. The selectable languages are displayed under the Captions tab. Read more about how to create and publish captions here.
Audio and video tracks in other languages
A separate video track in another language can be useful if, for example, you have a version of your film with graphics in another language. Audio tracks can be used to translate a film into speech. If you want to add a separate track in another language, click on Add track and select Language track.
You can then upload an audio or video file from a folder in Mediaflow. You choose the language of the track and add your track.
Once the track is published, the viewer can select the language in the video player using the language icon.
Sorting tracks by language
If you have several tracks linked to your video, you can choose to sort them by language instead of by the type of track. This gives you a good overview of the languages you have added. To do this, click on the globe icon under the Tracks tab.
Embedding video for different languages
If you embed your video using an embed code, you can choose which language and subtitle to set as default. For example, you can choose English as the default language for a English website and German for an German website, even though it is the same film. Right-click on your video in the media bank and select Embed code.
Under Advanced settings you can choose:
-
Which language the video player should have.
-
Which audio or video track should be set as default.
-
Which subtitle you want to be set as default.
