The Q&A box allows you to engage your viewers by collecting, moderating, and answering their questions during the broadcast. You can choose to activate the Q&A box for each individual broadcast.
Important to note about the Q&A Box
-
The Q&A box is not a chat function; you cannot respond individually to each user.
-
Questions submitted by viewers are visible only to those managing the broadcast in Mediaflow and, optionally, a moderator, not to other viewers.
-
Questions can be answered during the broadcast or outside the platform, for example, in an article on your website.
When the Q&A box is activated for a broadcast, it appears in the upper right corner of the control room. Depending on your settings, you can view incoming questions from viewers before, throughout, and after the broadcast. Viewers can submit questions wherever the broadcast is shown—via link, embed, or in a Play Portal.
Managing Incoming Questions
-
Incoming questions are displayed under the Inbox.
-
If an incoming question is approved, it will be shown under Approved.
-
Once an approved question is answered, it can be moved to Answered.
-
You can reorder the questions within each category.
-
If a question is not considered relevant or won’t be answered during the broadcast, it can be archived. Archived questions can be viewed by clicking the archive icon.
-
A question's status can be changed at any time, for example, by moving an archived question to approved.
-
Questions can be edited for clarity, to correct grammatical errors, or to suggest answers for the person reading them aloud.
-
You can pause the option to submit questions at any time.
-
You can also see how many questions have been submitted during a broadcast on the right side of the list view of your live broadcasts.
Moderator View
The moderator view displays questions similarly to the control room, with the same management options. This view allows questions to be handled in a separate window or tab and can be managed by a moderator without a Mediaflow account. A unique link to the moderator view for your broadcast can be found under the Q&A box. To access the page, the moderator will need a password that you set when creating or editing the broadcast.
Changes made to the questions in the control room or the moderator view are updated in real-time. You can also choose which categories to display and whether to view the interface in light or dark mode.
