Live broadcasts in full HD, a new feature for audio description, and a new version of our Office integration. During the summer and fall, we have made several updates in Mediaflow. Here, you can read more about what's new.
Live:
Higher quality for live broadcasts
When creating a live broadcast, you can now choose whether you want to broadcast in 1080p or 720p. You make this selection when creating a new broadcast. Under the "Stream" tab, you'll find options for the quality of your broadcast. This cannot be changed once the broadcast has started. A label indicates the quality you've chosen for a broadcast. These are visible both in the list of all your broadcasts and inside the control room for each broadcast.
Video Manager:
New text-to-speech feature for audio description
If you publish a text track for audio description in Video Manager, the text can be read aloud by a text-to-speech engine. Under the "Settings" tab in the Video Player, in the "Audio Description Settings" section, viewers can adjust the voice, pitch, rate, volume, and choose whether they want the video to pause while the text-to-speech is speaking. These options are available only when audio description is enabled as a text track in Video Manager.
Video Player:
Expanded WCAG accessibility support
We have made several updates and bug fixes to enhance accessibility in our video player:
- Fixed contrast issues in subtitle settings.
- Resolved an issue that could cause the sign language interpreter to appear below other elements on the page.
- Fixed an issue that made the current language in the language selector invisible when navigating with a keyboard.
- Fixed an issue where subtitles for audio description didn't always appear on iOS.
- The video player now supports Norwegian and Finnish as interface languages.
Portals:
Ability to copy an embed code for a video from a portal
You can now copy an embed code for a video from a portal if you want to use the code to publish the video on another website. To enable this feature, you need to go to the settings for your portal and check the box "Enable copying of embed code from the portal." In the portal, visitors can then right-click on a video and choose "Embed video" to access the embed code. This can be useful if you want to allow portal users to publish videos on websites not connected to your Mediaflow account.
More updates for portals:
- Links in video descriptions are now automatically converted into clickable links in play portals.
- A new field for meta descriptions in portal settings in Mediaflow (to determine what is displayed as the description on Google).
- Updates for increased responsiveness on mobile phones.
Integrations:
New version of the Office integration
There is now a new version of the Mediaflow integration for Office (Word and PowerPoint) with the following features:
- Support for transparency when mounting PNG images. This means that Mediaflow no longer mounts JPEG files but also that file formats with transparency (e.g TIFF) are converted to PNG while preserving transparency.
- Higher resolution for mounted images. 1600 pixels is now the default size when mounting an image in the integration (previously it was 700 pixels). However, you can still choose 700 pixels or the original image size.
- Setting to choose whether users are required to report the usage of images mounted in Word and PowerPoint, making it visible in Mediaflow. You can find this setting under the tab Integration > Microsoft Office in Mediaflow.
- Translation of the integration into English, Norwegian, and Finnish. The language of the user's operating system determines the language of the integration.
Note:To access the new features, you need to reinstall your Office integration. You'll know you have the new version when you see the Mediaflow logo and not our older MediaflowPro logo.
New version of the Optimizely 12 integration
It is now possible to link multiple integration keys in Mediaflow to different groups in Optimizely. This can be used by customers who have multiple editorial groups in Optimizely and need access to different pages on their website. In this way, you can provide access to different content folders for different groups.
