With Mediaflow's cloud solution, you can manage and share files easily and securely. When you need to use your files, you download them locally to your computer, just like any other files online. This means that every time you download a file, you create a copy of the original stored in Mediaflow. You can also create variations of the original through cropping and download presets. This reduces the need for local storage and minimizes the risk of someone modifying or deleting your original files.
Download original filer or crop freely
By double-clicking a thumbnail, you can quickly download the original file from Mediaflow. Alternatively, you can right-click the file and select Download Original File (or use the Use File button → Download File → Original File at the top of the right panel). If you have multiple files selected, they will be downloaded as a ZIP folder.
To create a cropped version of an image file, for example, in a lower resolution, you can choose the Crop Freely option. This allows you to select and zoom in on the image. You will also receive a warning if you crop the image too much.
❇️ Quick Access to Downloads
Files downloaded from Mediaflow are saved in the Downloads folder on your computer. If you frequently download files from Mediaflow, you can create a shortcut folder on your desktop or bookmark your browser’s download history for quick access.
Download video files
By right-clicking on a video file, you can choose to download it in several versions: the original version, 1080p, and 720p.
Downloading presetsformat
A download format is a template for how your users can download an image with preset dimensions and size to perfectly fit your needs. As a pro user, you can create a completely new download format or modify existing ones by clicking on Settings → download presets. These formats can also be controlled so that certain formats are visible only inside Mediaflow, only in a portal, or only from a CMS like Sitevision, Episerver, or similar. You can then access these formats by right-clicking on a file and selecting Download. A list of available download presets will appear. In the example below, you can see several formats. You can control how many or few formats you wish to display.
To use a format, right-click on a file, then select Download and scroll to the format you want to use for your image. In front of each format, you will see a symbol indicating whether the current format compresses and downloads the image directly to your computer or if you must first crop it to the allowed size.
In the cropping tool, you can do the following:
-
Switch to a different format from the list of available download presets.
-
Adjust the crop mask with the handles until you are satisfied with your selection.
-
Preview how the image will look.
-
Click Download file to download your cropped image in the correct resolution.
Please note that a very small crop, depending on the format’s settings, may result in a blurry image. If you make a very small crop, the image will be enlarged, which can cause blurriness. The system will warn you if this occurs, as shown here:
Also, you can preview how blurry the image will become before finalizing the crop.
Edit a download preset
Under Settings → download presets, you can edit existing download presets. Click on a format in the list to make changes to it.
Note that you can scroll down in this settings window for more options. Here, you can modify various settings for this download format. Once you are satisfied with the settings, click Save to apply the changes.
Create a new download preset
Under Settings → download presets, click the blue button New Format in the top-right corner to create a completely custom download format. After clicking on "New Format," a blank template will appear, allowing you to customize it as you wish and give it an appropriate name.
Here you can set:
-
Name
-
File Format
-
Whether metadata should accompany the download
-
If you want to customize the background color
-
If you want to add a suffix to the filename upon download
In the Image Size and Quality section, choose:
-
Whether the template should crop the image manually, keep the aspect ratio, or maintain the original aspect ratio.
-
Width, height, and resolution of the image.
-
Color profile – select an existing color profile from Mediaflow or upload your own.
-
How much compression should be applied to the file upon download.
Once you're done, click Save in the bottom-right corner. The new download format is now ready to use, and you'll find it in the list of formats when you right-click on a file in Mediaflow.
Determine where a download preset can be used
When editing a download format, there is a section a bit further down in the settings window called Visibility. Here, you can control who can see this format by enabling specific checkboxes. The following options are available:
-
Which user groups can access this format?
-
Should the format be visible in your portal (external media bank)?
-
Should the format be visible for a CMS like Sitevision or Episerver?
⚠️ Important Setting for download presets in CMS Integrations
For the format to be visible in an integration, it must have Download and Publish selected under Used for. This ensures that the format can be used for both downloading and publishing the image.
