In our digital world, film-based communication has become increasingly important for effectively delivering messages. From Mediaflow, you can easily download and stream your video files directly.
No matter how extensively you work with film, there are many advantages to gathering your video files in Mediaflow rather than in a separate video platform.
-
Use metadata such as keywords, essential instructions, licence rights, etc. in your workflows.
-
Manage your video files according to GDPR with the GDPR module.
-
Share your video files with web shares, in media portals, via CMS integrations, and to external systems using embed code.
-
Use our accessible video player when sharing video files.
-
Avoid adverts and suggestions for related videos.
-
Ensure your videos comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, using Video Manager.
What does an accessible video player entail?
The primary aim of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines is to ensure that no one is prevented from using digital services because of a disability. A selection of the requirements of the standard that the video player fulfils are:
-
Subtitles are available.
-
Option to control the player with the keyboard.
-
Support for screen readers and clear labelling of the different functions.
-
Clear contrast between text, controls and background.
-
Responsiveness so the player works on different screen sizes.
-
Developed with consideration for colour blindness.
An overview of the video player
The video player's icons allow the viewer to adjust the quality and playback speed settings. They can also watch the video clip in full-screen mode and select the picture-in-picture mode (usually used with sign language interpretation).
Mediaflow's video player supports subtitles, audio description, sign language interpretation, and alternative audio and video tracks, for example, for versions in other languages.
Mediaflow's Video Manager accommodates accessibility demands. It allows you to easily add multiple audio and video tracks to your video files. If subtitles and different audio and video tracks are added to the video clip, the viewer can opt to use these aids.
Share your video material
From Mediaflow, you can share films in web shares in the same way as with other files. You can also publish them in a Media Portal, or use a specific media portal for video files, namely a Play Portal. If you have one of our integrations with your CMS, such as Sitevision or Wordpress, you can publish videos directly on your intranet or website.
Embed video and video URL
If you want to publish your films in Mediaflow to other systems, such as external ones or social media, you can easily use an embed code or a video URL.
If you use embed code, we recommend embedding with Javascript as it works better than iframe for accessibility customisation. Under the advanced settings, you can make settings to customise the code regarding autoplay, video title, play button, player language, etc.
Files from Youtube and Vimeo
We recommend storing your video files in Mediaflow to avoid adverts and suggestions for related videos and to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines consistently. Storing your files in Mediaflow also allows you to use our video player. An alternative to storing your video files in Mediaflow is to link them from Youtube or Vimeo. This solution is suitable if you want the option to view the video file together with other files in Mediaflow, for example, in a specific project.
Under the Upload button, you can choose to add a video from an external source. The video file appears like other files in Mediaflow. You can watch the video and see information about it but not download it. This is because it is stored with YouTube or Vimeo, which is also why their players are used instead of the Mediaflow video player.
Tip regarding storage
Under the settings on the “Storage” tab, you can see how much space different file types, such as films, take up.
