There are several ways to create web shares in Mediaflow, which makes it easier since different workflows vary. You can either share an entire folder, individual files or a selection of files. Regardless of which of these options you choose, you will access the same dialogue to customise the settings for the web share.
Create a new web link in Mediaflow
Share a folder of files
If you want to share all the files in a folder, click on the folder's settings and select Create web share.
Share a selection of files
If you need to gather a number of files to send, the selection is handy to use. From here you can then choose to create a web link with your selected files. The selection itself is saved under your personal area, but in the web link settings you can choose whether you want more Mediaflow users to be able to administer the web link.
Share a number of selected files
If you need to send only a couple of images, it is also possible to select them, right-click and then choose "create web link". However, a limitation with this option is that you cannot allow the web link content to be updated over time in case you want to add or remove files.
Web link for uploading
There are many uses for uploading though a web share, such as linking a folder to a photographer for delivery or allowing emploies to upload images from an event. If you are going to create a web share with upload capability, you need to so from a folder or a selection, as the system needs to know where the new files should end up. The recipient of the web share simply drags their files from their desktop and drops them into the web share where they are uploaded. In Mediaflow, the images will appear in the folder from which the web share was created.
A fourth option, for those of you who have a media portal, is to create a web share through the media portal. This is a simpler and more limited form of web share, and you can choose whether to switch on the functionality in the media portal settings. The Media Portal user will then have the option to choose to create a web share from their selection. The settings they can make are to name the weblink and choose the validity period.
