The Open/Save plugin is installed on your computer to enable opening a file in Mediaflow with any program on your system. Our users often utilize it alongside Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, but it is also possible to open files such as text documents in Word. After editing your file, you can save these changes directly to Mediaflow, where they will become a version of the original file.
For Pro user only
Please note that this plugin is always included, in all agreements, but only for Pro users. If your other users to need to utilise this and other plugins for pro users, you can contact our support to add more licenses.
Edit a file with the Open/Save plugin
After installing the plugin, you can right-click on a file in Mediaflow and then get the option Open and edit.
When you select Open and edit, a box opens. Click on the "Open Program" button. A list of programs installed on your computer now appears, and you can choose which program you want to open the file with.
Language support for the plugin
The language of the plugin is determined by the system language of your computer. The language you set in Mediaflow does not affect the language of the plugin.
Save to Mediaflow
After you have finished editing, click on "Save" in your programme (not "Save as"). You will now get the following dialogue box, where you have the choice to save the changes and send the file back to Mediaflow as a new file or as a version of the existing file. If you want your changes to replace the main version in Mediaflow, select "Save the edited file as a new active version". In other words, the original version is not deleted but saved as a version. If you want to delete it completely, you can do so in Mediaflow. If you want your changes to be saved as a secondary version, select "Save the edited file as a new version".
Back in Mediaflow, we now see that the image has a small icon on it. This icon shows that the image has multiple versions, and in the right info panel, we can now click on the "Versions" tab to see the different versions. Make sure that the file you save maintains the same file format and settings as the original file. For example, an image that you have sent to Photoshop may need to have the layers merged before saving.
