The integration with Umbraco enables the publication of images and videos from Mediaflow directly in Umbraco's editing mode. It's an excellent way for web editors to always have access to files that are GDPR-compliant, have the correct alt texts, and videos that are accessibility-adapted.
Settings in Mediaflow
The integration with Umbraco can be used as soon as it's installed. However, for the files to be accessible and used optimally, administrators need to have prepared the settings for them in Mediaflow first.
Installing the integration for Umbraco
There are a few steps to take to ensure that the plugin works properly.
-
You must ensure that the web server hosting the Umbraco website does not block traffic to the mediaflowpro.com domain. The plugin must communicate with the servers to retrieve data from Mediaflow.
-
You must ensure that the files and folders in Mediaflow that are to appear in the plugin within Umbraco have the correct permissions to allow the plugin to display the files and folders.
Click here to download the integration (Umbraco version 8) To install the package, go to your "Packages" section in Umbraco and in the search field search for "Mediaflow". You should now see the Mediaflow package in the search results, click on it to see the Mediaflow Umbraco package, click on the installation button to start the installation.
After this, you must accept the terms of use and click on "Install package". The conditions for using the Mediaflow umbraco package are that you have a Mediaflow account with integrations activated because you cannot use the package without an account.
The installation will create a Mediaflow picker data type, a macro for use in RTE editors and a macro view.
Once the package is installed, you must configure your installation with your MFP key and a media folder where your uploads will end up.
You can find your MFP key by clicking on Settings> Integrations> Umbraco in Mediaflow.
Use the data type
To use the Mediaflow selector, you must add it to your document type, go to your document type in settings and add a new property where you select the "Mediaflow Picker" type under "Available configurations". Mediaflow should then be ready to be used on that page.
To use the Mediaflow data type in the RTE editor, you can click the "Macros" button in the RTE editor and select the Mediaflow macro, this will insert the image or video you select in RTE.
