With the integration to WordPress, you can publish your images and videos from Mediaflow directly on your website or intranet. It's a fantastic way for editors to always have access to files that are GDPR-compliant, have the right alt texts, and videos that are accessibility-adapted. Wordpress users don't need to download files to their computer first and thus don't need a login for Mediaflow. (But of course, they can have a Mediaflow login for other needs.)
Getting started with the integration
You can start using the integration as soon as it's installed in WordPress. For the files to be selected and used optimally, you need to have prepared the settings for them in Mediaflow first.
Publishing images and videos in WordPress
Once you've installed the plugin, you can access the Mediaflow library in WordPress editor mode.
Inserting images
If you want to insert an image, create an image block and click on Media library.
You choose the Mediaflow tab where you can browse through your folder structure and also search for files. You can choose to display the files as large, small, or in a list. In the preview view to the right, you see more information and metadata stored in the file.
To be able to publish a file, the GDPR requirements must be approved. We recommend that inside Mediaflow, you choose to make only approved images visible in the WordPress plugin. You can also set restrictions regarding license rights to ensure that images are not used incorrectly.
To insert the image, click on Use this file to open the cropping tool. You can change the file name and decide how it should be inserted: in original size, crop the image freely, or use a preset format. The most common and efficient method is to set up preset formats in Mediaflow, known as downloading presets, to get the right number of pixels, compression, and color profile, which you then crop directly on the website. This saves valuable time for your editors, who don't need to use other programs to get the right settings for the images. You can also add alternative text at this stage. If there's already one entered in Mediaflow, it can be used, adapted, or replaced. When the image is published, information about where the image was used is saved both in the integration and in Mediaflow.
Click on Use this file and the image will be uploaded to your library in WordPress and become available in the regular image selector. The upload is also saved in the upload history in Mediaflow and in the plugin so that you can see that the image is used in WordPress.
Inserting a feature image
In the settings menu on the right, you can choose Featured image and will be able to access the file selector with your folder structure in Mediaflow in the same way as in editor mode.
Inserting videos
If you want to insert a video clip, use the module called Mediaflow Video Embed. You can search for it if it's not visible in the listing. It works the same way as the image module, and you can also see metadata for video files here.
When you've selected a video, you can choose whether it should start from a different time than the beginning or start playing automatically. When you click on Use this file, the video is published on the page and is also registered in the usage history in Mediaflow and in the plugin.
